Pauline Owayjan: Championing An Endangered Species
Arabic virtuoso rekindles the dwindling flames of a marginalized language
Editor’s Note: With over 15 years of experience in education, Pauline Owayjan, Arabic coordinator and teacher at both campuses of Eastwood College in Lebanon, has accumulated a wealth of knowledge during her career. The Middle East Educator borrowed a bit of her time to glean her thoughts on a number of topics, particularly on the status of the Arabic language, her field of specialization. Ms. Owayjan has earned a Bachelor’s and Teacher training degree in Arabic language and literature, a Master’s in Arabic language and literature, and is working toward her Doctorate in Arabic language and literature. Her vast array of interests include watching documentaries, dancing, acting, visiting historical monuments and fashion design.
